This report aims to raise awareness of noise matters and increase understanding of the nature and type of noise complaints in the Republic of Ireland. Additionally, it will serve as a source of helpful information for various agencies, Local Authorities, relevant Government Departments, key influencers and the media. It is also hoped that this data will induce change and promote recognition, classification and quantification of noise as it affects the public as an environmental pollutant. This report also gives insights into noise pollution’s impact on citizens across the country. It is proposed that the Irish Environmental Protection consider this report Agency (EPA) and the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment (DCCAE) during the development of future noise policy within the Republic of Ireland and to examine the effectiveness of existing noise pollution-reducing measures. This report is compiled using self-reported noise complaints gathered via www.noisecomplaint.ie. This research is the first ever undertaken within the Republic of Ireland.
