We have identified emerging trends in unconventional planning noise conditions from Kildare County Council. If your project has been impacted by restrictive noise limits—such as a 45dB(A) limit after 18:00 during daytime hours or a 45dB(A) limit on Saturdays, Sundays, and Bank Holiday weekends—ICAN Acoustics can assist in contesting and rectifying these conditions. We can provide expert support in appealing unworkable noise limits or conditions, assisting you in your appeal to An Bord Pleanála. Contact ICAN Acoustics for guidance to ensure a more practical and achievable outcome for your project.

Sample unconventional planning noise condition

Condition 10(a) states that noise shall not give rise to sound pressure levels (Leq 15 minutes) at noise sensitive locations exceeding 55 dB(A) between 08.00 and 18.00 Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays) and 45 dB(A) at any other time.

Proceeding with a development without contesting an unconventional noise limit could leave you compromised at a future date if the condition is simply accepted without question.
