Cork residents plead with landlords to stop student parties
Residents near University College Cork are pleading with landlords to include a “no house parties” clause in letting agreements for student houses as the start of the academic year draws near.
The Magazine Road Residents Association (MRRA) is also calling on landlords to ensure that tenants comply with coronavirus guidelines, which limit indoor gatherings to six people.
Catherine Clancy, chairwoman of the MRRA, said that the group was not prepared to put up with anti-social behaviour this winter. Magazine Road is a ten-minute walk away from the university and there is a lot of student accommodation in the area. “These house parties risk the spread of Covid-19 in our community and we need to ensure residents and students can share this area without feeling anxious,”
